 Google trends give an idea about the people of various regions. See the picture of Google trends (below). This is the graph for Torrent search. Top 8 torrent searching cities are European ones. Not even a single U.S city is in the top 10 list.  Why Europeans are main searchers for Torrents in spite of low population? Is it an early adoptation to torrent technology or laxity in rules? Google’s domination over Indian webspace

  Compared to the world, Google's domination is complete over Indian web space. In the Alexa rankings, Out of the top four, three sites are from Google network. Though Yahoo is in the first place, Orkut, Google India and Google are occupied second, third and fourth places respectively.     Orkut became the "My Space of India". Every Indian teenager hooked to Orkut for networking. 90% of Indian search market is occupied by Google and its Indian arm.       Other Google Sites like Blogger (11 th place), and Youtube (13 th place) are gradually gaining ground among the Indian netizens.   Internet usage is gradually increasing in India with Broadband penetration. Companies are sweating out to get more user eye balls. Let us see current positions.   Top brands on internet in India :       1. Yahoo is the biggest email brand with 37% share.     2. Ebay is the top shopping site for Indians with 38% market share.     3. Rediff is the website users go for their Mobile downloads with 23% share.       4. 90% Internet users are in Top 20 countries

 According to Internet world stats report (september 2006), 90% of total internet users are located in top 20 countries. Total internet users are 1.08 billion approximately (16.7%) world population. 0.9 billion net users are situated in top 20 countries .It illustrates the wide gap in the technology usage among developed and developing countries. US leads with 207 million users while china occupies second place with 123 million users. Japan,India and Germany occupied next places. Other top countries are UK, Germany, South Korea, France, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Canada, Spain, Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey, Australia, Taiwan, Netherlands and Poland. 200% increase in net usage since 2000. US and India – What Google trends tell us?

    I am an Indian Physician who regularly observes Google Trends Website to know about people searches and latest trends.       Indians are generally considered as sexually conservative people. But, in the Google trends for SEX, 3 out of top 4 places occupied by Indian cities. They are leaving their inhibitions in the dark world of Internet.       US citizens are considered as sexually liberated people. But, in the Google trends for GOD, Top 5 places are occupied by US cities.         Number one place for sexual searches is occupied by Cairo of Egypt, which is very rigid society.         So, what google trends tell us is Liberalization is best either in Busines or Sex.       More you become rigid, more they want breakfree. Why technocrats hate Microsoft – Physician’s doubt!?

    I am a physician from Andhra Pradesh, India. I am following technology trends since 1998. But I am unable to understand one thing that is why advanced users hate Microsoft?       I have seen lot of posts on Microsoft bashing in various forums. While most of users are addicted to microsoft products like windows and internet explorer, advanced users are advising Linux and Firefox. Whether it is arrogance of advanced users or ignorance of normal users?  My opinion is intermediate one. Microsoft products are easy to use and somewhat addictive. But Microsoft is less innovative but very good at marketing.  Though of late, Google is on steroids and Microsoft is on Opioids, Microsoft is still way ahead of competitors.  My request to Bill Gates:  Please lower windows price to penetrate technology in third world countries. Indian Mobile industry is booming

 India is in 5 th place in mobile subscribers behind China, America, Russia and Japan. It may soon going to cross Japan and Russia. All this happened within a short span of 6 years.  This is mainly due to low prices, booming economy and aggressive marketing. Indians who are slow to adopt new technologies surprisingly embraced these mobiles, including my parents.  India may soon reach third place if this growth continued. Mobile became the necessary commodity for Indians. Nokia already established manufacturing base in Chennai. LG, Samsung and Motorola may soon follow Nokia path. 75% of Indian mobile market is occupied by Nokia followed by motorola with 13%. Nokia and motorola achieved this growth by releasing low end mobiles with basic features. Samsung and Sony Ericcson are mainly targeted at high end users.  Nokia seems to have understood Indian market and consumer mindset better than rivals.  … [Read more...]
