Why technocrats hate Microsoft – Physician’s doubt!?

I am a physician from Andhra Pradesh, India. I am following technology trends since 1998. But I am unable to understand one thing that is why advanced users hate Microsoft?       I have seen lot of posts on Microsoft bashing in various forums. While most of users are addicted to microsoft products like windows and internet explorer, advanced users are advising Linux and Firefox. Whether it is arrogance of advanced users or ignorance of normal users?  My opinion is intermediate one. Microsoft products are easy to use and somewhat addictive. But Microsoft is less innovative but very good at marketing.  Though of late, Google is on steroids and Microsoft is on Opioids, Microsoft is still way ahead of competitors.  My request to Bill Gates:  Please lower windows price to penetrate technology in third world countries. It is small incentive you pay for normal users who still ignoring advice of advanced users.   … [Read more...]

Indian Mobile industry is booming

India is in 5 th place in mobile subscribers behind China, America, Russia and Japan. It may soon going to cross Japan and Russia. All this happened within a short span of 6 years.  This is mainly due to low prices, booming economy and aggressive marketing. Indians who are slow to adopt new technologies surprisingly embraced these mobiles, including my parents.  India may soon reach third place if this growth continued. Mobile became the necessary commodity for Indians. Nokia already established manufacturing base in Chennai. LG, Samsung and Motorola may soon follow Nokia path. 75% of Indian mobile market is occupied by Nokia followed by motorola with 13%. Nokia and motorola achieved this growth by releasing low end mobiles with basic features. Samsung and Sony Ericcson are mainly targeted at high end users.  Nokia seems to have understood Indian market and consumer mindset better than rivals.  … [Read more...]
