Internet trends and top internet properties

  India reached seventh position in the internet population and 3.2 crore Indians are now accessing internet despite low broadband penetration. Google India is now among the “Top 15” websites in the world due to this sudden spurt in internet usage in India. Google is now the number one internet property in the world with 77% reach while Yahoo is gradually losing the grip over internet.  Top 5 internet properties:  1. Google sites: 77% reach 2. Microsoft sites: 64% reach 3. Yahoo sites: 55% reach. Are you still using Yahoo mail? 4. AOL: 27% reach with little international presence. 5. Wikemedia: Power of community.  Top 7 countries in internet reach:  1. China: 1 in every 6 internet user is from China.  2. USA: 1 every 7 internet user is from America.  3. Japan: 6% of internet population are from Japan.  4. Germany: This country represents 3.7% of internet population.  5. Britain: 3.6 crore internet users are from UK.  6. France: 3.4 crore internet users from France.  7. India: Just 3.2 crore Indians access internet. India represents 3.2% of internet population. But India will reach 3rd position within 1 year, according to estimates.  If Indian Government aggressively encourages broadband deployment, India will easily reach 3rd position in internet population.   Blogs are now the most popular communication tool and readers now trust bloggers and its content. Corporations are now using blogs to send the message to the customers. Blogs help in building relationship with customers. Blog readership has seen 300% growth in the past 4 years. 50% of online users are now reading blogs regularly.  According to the latest survey, blogs have more impact on netizens than social networks. 40% of blog readers are taking some action after seeing an ad.  Influential blogs: Technology, Media, Entertainment, Games, travel, automotives and health.  At present, 70% of marketers are now using social networks while 66% are relying on blogs for the marketing of products. 45% of them are using video sites like YouTube.   Porn is the most popular segment on Internet. People are getting more addicted to pornography. A You Tube video illustrated the dominance of Porn and Sex on Internet in a beautifully taken video. This video shows the statistics of porn domination on a woman’s body.  Some statistics from the video:  1. 12% of websites on internet are porn oriented. 2. 25% of search terms are porn related. 3. 35% of all internet downloads are porn related. 4. United States is the home of 89% of porn sites. 5. Everyday 256 new porn sites are appearing on Internet. 6. Every second 28,000 persons are viewing porn. 7. 90% Internet users are in Top 20 countries

 According to Internet world stats report (september 2006), 90% of total internet users are located in top 20 countries. Total internet users are 1.08 billion approximately (16.7%) world population. 0.9 billion net users are situated in top 20 countries .It illustrates the wide gap in the technology usage among developed and developing countries. US leads with 207 million users while china occupies second place with 123 million users.     I am an Indian Physician who regularly observes Google Trends Website to know about people searches and latest trends.       Indians are generally considered as sexually conservative people. But, in the Google trends for SEX, 3 out of top 4 places occupied by Indian cities. They are leaving their inhibitions in the dark world of Internet.       US citizens are considered as sexually liberated people. But, in the Google trends for GOD, Top 5 places are occupied by US cities.         Number one place for sexual searches is occupied by Cairo of Egypt, which is very rigid society.         So, what google trends tell us is Liberalization is best either in Busines or Sex.       More you become rigid, more they want breakfree.
