I am a physician from India who has been following the technology industry for the past 4 years. Users are gradually moving from desktop applications to internet rich applications. Web 2.0 sites are on the rise. Blogging has reached phenomenal heights. 2003: 1. I browsed from internet cafés on slow dial up connections. 2. My net usage was 20 hours per week. 3. I never heard the words “Blog”, “Digg” and “You tube”. 4. My primary email was Yahoo and secondary one was Hotmail. 5. Primary search engine was Google. 6. I spent 40% of my browsing time on Yahoo, 15% on Google, 15% on MSN networks. 7. Email took about 40% of my net usage. 8. Microsoft was a giant at that time.9. E Donkey was my major P2P application.10. Internet explorer was my major browser.2007: 1. I am surfing internet from my home on broad band connection. 2. My net usage is 100 hours per week. 3. Why technocrats hate Microsoft – Physician’s doubt!?
I am a physician from Andhra Pradesh, India. I am following technology trends since 1998. But I am unable to understand one thing that is why advanced users hate Microsoft? I have seen lot of posts on Microsoft bashing in various forums. While most of users are addicted to microsoft products like windows and internet explorer, advanced users are advising Linux and Firefox. Whether it is arrogance of advanced users or ignorance of normal users? My opinion is intermediate one. Microsoft products are easy to use and somewhat addictive. But Microsoft is less innovative but very good at marketing. Though of late, Google is on steroids and Microsoft is on Opioids, Microsoft is still way ahead of competitors. My request to Bill Gates: Please lower windows price to penetrate technology in third world countries.
